NEW  HOME  FOR  HANDS  AFTER  FLOOD

Local charity HANDS (Help a Neighbour in Distress Scheme) has moved into a new office in Twickenham Library following a disastrous flood at their former premises on Twickenham Embankment.  At the end of May a water tank on the roof of the Bath House was vandalised and the resulting flood damaged the fabric of the building, rendering it unfit for use.  Stock designated for sale at the HANDS Charity May Fair was lost and furniture damaged, but other equipment was salvaged and since then the charity has been operating from a temporary office.

Because of the planned redevelopment of the Twickenham Riverside, HANDS have been in talks with Richmond Council for some time to find alternative accommodation.  The move to the Library will mean that the charity can remain in the heart of Twickenham and easily accessible to the local community it serves.
